FamilyLock is a pair of Android apps — one for you, one for your kid. Pair them with a 6-digit code and control screen time, app limits, bedtime and more, over your home Wi-Fi. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Android devices only — the child phone must be set up once via USB as Device Owner (one-time, 2 minutes).
Enforced on-device by the Device Owner system role — the most powerful protections Android lets a parental app use.
Set daily limits. FamilyLock tracks real screen-on time and suspends apps the moment a budget runs out.
Define a nightly window — after bedtime, only essentials stay usable. Crosses midnight automatically.
Work in blocklist mode (ban specific apps) or allowlist mode (only approved apps). Toggle any app instantly.
Device Owner powers: app suspension, screenshot blocking and uninstall protection that kids can't get around with Settings.
Ask the child phone for its current location and see battery level and charge state at a glance.
Lock the device or, as a last resort, wipe its data — right from the parent app.
Grant 10 more minutes, or pause controls during family movie night — then resume exactly where you left off.
A simple browser on the child phone blocks adult sites and pages that offer off-device file downloads of installed apps.
Everything stays on your LAN — authenticated with a shared secret derived from your pairing code. No servers, no ads, no tracking.
One-time child-phone setup needs a computer with USB debugging. The computer is only used to grant the Device Owner role.
Download FamilyLock Parent on your phone and FamilyLock Child on the child phone.
With USB debugging on the child phone, run: adb install child.apkadb shell dpm set-device-owner com.familylock.child/.receiver.LockAdminReceiver
Open the child app, note its 6-digit code, tap Add device on the parent phone, and enter the code. Done.
A look at the two apps. The parent app is your control center; the child app is what you'll see when configuring the kid's phone.
Both apps are free to download here — no Play Store required, no account to create.
